Empty Plates, Empty Pledges: Janet Museveni’s 9-Million-Pupil Feeding Plan Stalls

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Mitooma District Woman MP, Rabecca Kyarampe Namanya, has urged residents to reject voter bribery as the 2026 general elections draw closer.

While addressing a campaign rally in Kashensero Mitooma on Saturday, Kyarampe called on voters to uphold integrity and make electoral choices based on values, service delivery, and party ideology rather than short-term financial handouts.

Her appeal comes amid allegations that the incumbent Woman MP, Juliet Agasha Bashiisha, and her campaign agents have been distributing between sh2,000 and sh5,000 to voters to influence their support in the upcoming polls.

Kyarampe condemned the alleged practice, saying leaders seeking re-election should let their performance speak for them.
“Service delivery should be the reason someone returns to Parliament, not money,” she said.

Hundreds gather in Kashensero to listen to their candidate Kyarampe Rabecca Namanya.

She pledged to lobby for improved health services, better learning conditions in schools, establishment of markets for agricultural produce to support rural farmers, and increased support for women and youth-led initiatives if elected.

According to the Electoral Commission, campaigns for parliamentary and presidential candidates commenced on November 10 and will run until January 12. Polling for both categories is scheduled for January 15, 2025.
