KAMPALA
Faith Life Church in partnership with Rewards for Education, Miss Uganda Trivia Elle Muhoza and Fair Field have donated relief to residents of Katanga, a Kampala suburb.
The donation included clothes, shoes, sanitary pads and a hot meal to residents, largely targeting children and other vulnerable groups in the community.
Dr. Henry Byamukama, the head of Faith Life Church and Rewards for Education, said the outreach is an annual initiative aimed at supporting the needy, particularly children from disadvantaged backgrounds. He urged individuals and institutions with means to prioritise helping vulnerable communities.
“We may not have much, but it is painful to see excessive spending on parties when many people around us lack basic necessities,” Dr. Byamukama said.
He also highlighted the Rewards for Education programme, which supports children to remain in school and, in some cases, access opportunities to study at universities abroad.
Miss Uganda Trivia Elle Muhoza said her involvement was driven by personal experience, having grown up in a slum community herself. She appealed to more organisations and individuals to support residents of informal settlements.
“Many people in slum communities live in very difficult conditions. This is where I was raised, and I feel a responsibility to give back and use my platform to mobilise support for such children,” Muhoza said.
Shadia Namata, an adviser on the Fair Field board, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting similar community initiatives and called on those with resources to share with the less fortunate.
Beneficiaries who talked to Parrots Media commended the organisers, describing the support as timely, especially during the festive season. Some residents noted that the food and other donations brought relief and joy to families preparing for Christmas.
Peterson Bogere, said acts of generosity should go beyond the festive season and be sustained to continuously support vulnerable communities.
