The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has dismissed as fake and misleading reports circulating on social media claiming that the release of the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results has been delayed due to a national internet shutdown.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, said it had taken note of a document allegedly from the Ministry of Education and Sports suggesting that the results were delayed following an internet shutdown on January 14, 2026.
Jennifer Kalule Musamba, the Board Principal Public Relations Officer described the claims as baseless and intended to cause unnecessary panic among candidates, parents, and school administrators.
“The board calls upon the public to disregard such misleading information,” said Jennifer Kalule Masamba , adding that all necessary quality assurance procedures for the 2025 PLE have been effectively finalized. UNEB clarified that the official release date for the results will be announced in due course through its authorized communication channels.
The clarification follows widespread circulation of a forged circular purporting to originate from the Office of the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports, which claimed that errors in examination marks had necessitated re-entry and verification.
UNEB also issued a renewed warning to head teachers and school administrators against fraudsters impersonating members of the board’s committees to solicit money from schools under false promises of improving candidates’ grades or removing schools from lists of top-performing institutions.
“This is not true,” Jennifer emphasized, noting that UNEB does not solicit money for any examination-related services.
The board urged school heads and members of the public to report such cases to the police or directly to UNEB using its toll-free lines 0800-111427 or 0800-211077. UNEB further assured whistleblowers that anyone providing credible information would be protected under the board’s whistleblower policy.
UNEB advised the public to rely only on official statements from the board and the Ministry of Education and Sports to avoid being misled by false information, especially during the sensitive examination results period
