Security agencies in Soroti City recently arrested a woman accused of illegally selling national passports and other immigration-related documents.
On the morning of 22nd February 2026, an intelligence-led operation was carried out in Orwadai, Soroti City, following reports that Abilo Tesira, a female adult, was involved in the illicit trade.
Authorities recovered 261 passports, along with several certificates of good conduct and yellow fever cards, all allegedly being issued from her residence.
Police confirmed that Tesira is currently in custody as investigations continue to determine the full extent of the operation and whether other individuals were involved.
Officials have emphasized that the crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to combat fraud and safeguard the integrity of Uganda’s immigration system.
