BUSHENYI
At least two people have been confirmed dead following a Thursday afternoon road crash involving a Tausi bus and a Toyota Noah in Bushenyi District.
The accident occurred at Kantojo in Rwentuha along the Bushenyi–Mbarara road when a speeding Toyota Noah, registration number UA 196AY, reportedly rammed into a Tausi bus, registration number UBA 707AK, resulting in a fatal collision.
According to police, two passengers whose identities had not yet been established by press time died on the spot.

Greater Bushenyi regional police spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa confirmed the incident, saying traffic officers were still at the scene gathering more details.
“Our officers from the traffic department are still on the ground. More details will be shared later in our detailed report,” SP Tayebwa said.
Eyewitnesses attributed the crash to reckless driving by the Noah driver.
“I was escorting my wife who had just boarded another vehicle for Mbarara. The Noah driver was driving at a very high speed and in the wrong lane. When the bus driver attempted to dodge him, he failed and they had a head-on collision,” Mr Agaba said.
Police have since appealed to motorists and other road users to observe traffic regulations to prevent further loss of lives.
“In most cases, when you make a mistake as an individual, it costs another person or other people their lives. Therefore, we all have a duty to be keen whenever we are on the road, whether you are driving or not,” SP Tayebwa said.
