A high-level delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has arrived in Uganda for a two-day workshop aimed at accelerating preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2027, to be jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
The workshop, scheduled for April 22–23 in Kampala, brings together key stakeholders from the three East African nations under the EA Pamoja Bid, marking a critical step in the coordinated planning of the continental showpiece.
Senior government officials, including ministers responsible for sports from the three host nations, are attending alongside football federation presidents and top CAF officials led by Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu. CAF senior administrative staff are also part of the delegation.
According to the Local Organising Committee (LOC), the workshop is not an inspection tour but rather a strategic engagement designed to align priorities and strengthen operational readiness ahead of the tournament.
“This workshop underscores CAF’s commitment to supporting the Pamoja host nations and reflects a shared determination to ensure successful delivery of AFCON 2027,” said Dennis Mugimba, chairperson of the LOC Communications and Signage sub-committee.
Key focus areas for the workshop include safety and security, infrastructure development, procurement processes, finance, media operations, ticketing systems and commercial activities — all considered critical pillars for hosting a successful tournament.
By the end of the sessions, CAF and the host nations are expected to provide an update outlining delivery priorities for the next phase of preparations.
Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania secured the rights to host the 2027 tournament under the historic Pamoja bid, the first time the three nations will jointly stage Africa’s premier football competition.
