A priest in Kisoro district has survived a fatal accident after a car inwhich he and other occupants were travelling overturned leaving one person dead.

The accident occurred on Thursday morning at Kanaba hills in Kisoro district.

The Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate has told reports that the vehicle registration number UAQ 365D was being driven by Rev Fr Vincent Turinawe, a priest at Kangole Parish in Moroto District.

According to Maate, the priest (driver) together three others including; Sr Anexentia Arinaitwe, 45yrs, a nun attached to Rushoroza Parish in Kabale,  Asiimwe Donata, 40,a businesswoman in Kiruhura District and Tibizuka Mantlida, a resident of Buhara sub County in Kabale district survived the accident.

Maate also identified the deceased Nyamihanda Jerimina, 84, a resident of Kabanyonyi village in Buhara sub County.

Dr. Vincent Turinawe who survived the accident.

Eye witnesses say that the driver lost control of the vehicle which overturned several times before hitting a roadside rocky cliff.

Traffic police from Kisoro led by the OC traffic, Otole Yofasi visited the scene of the accident to ascertain the incident.

The wrecked vehicle has been towed to Kisoro Central Police Station and a case of fatal accident registered under reference number TAR 53/2021 to help in further investigation.
