An ambulance that was carrying a patient and three others caught fire resulting in the death of two of them, including the patient, and a nurse.
The incident according to traffic report occured at Kicucu Village Kicucu parish Kisomoro sub-county in Bunyangabu District along Kasese – Fort Portal road when an Ambulance registration No UG 4191 M Toyota Landcruiser belonging to Ministry of Health attached to Kasese District Health Services carrying a patient with others got a mechanical problem, caught fire and two people got burnt to ashes.
Both the patient and the nurse who are yet to identify died on the spot due to burn injuries while the driver escaped with injuries and he is said to be unconscious.
According to reports, the mishap happened at 7 p.m.
It is alleged that the smoke started emanating all of a sudden and the vehicle caught fire.
As per primary probe, the cause of fire is not yet known but further reports allege that it could have been caused by a leak in the oxygen cylinder.
