AMOLATAR
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaders from across Kioga county in Amolatar District have unanimously agreed to rally behind President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the lead-up to the 2026 general elections.
In a meeting, held at the Amolatar Town Council headquarters on Thursday, leaders agreed to form a unified front and lay aside all disputes arising from the recent party primaries, and reconcile to rally support for party’s official flag bearers.
Alfred Emong Adingi, the NRM Chairperson for Amolatar Town Council, set a firm tone by urging those who did not secure the party’s nomination to abide by its rules and resist running as independent candidates.
“In Amolatar Town Council, I will only rally support behind the party chairman and NRM flagbearer to avoid the opposition defeating our candidates,” Emong stated, emphasizing the strategic need for a consolidated vote.
This call for strict adherence to party lines was echoed by Kamilo Olwit, the NRM District Chairperson for Amolatar, who issued a warning against supporting any candidates outside the official party list. “We will only support NRM party flag bearers and Yoweri Kaguta Museveni,” Olwit declared.
Additionally, Boniface Pule, the NRM Administrative Secretary for Amolatar District, confirmed that the party’s machinery would be directed exclusively toward its chosen candidates. He also announced plans for a harmonization meeting between the flag bearers and those who lost in the primaries to foster reconciliation and secure their support.
Recognizing that unity must be actively built, several leaders emphasized the need for healing after the often-divisive primary elections.
Tonny Ojek, the NRM Chairperson for Namasale Sub-County, pledged to mobilize votes solely for President Museveni and the official NRM flag bearers.
This focus on reconciliation was strongly supported by Felix Adupa Ongwech, the newly nominated flag bearer for Kioga County. He emphasized forgiveness as a critical pillar for the party’s success. “Forgiveness is important and a foundation for the success of the NRM party flag bearers which gives no room to the opposition,” Adupa said.
The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, as leaders pledged to return to their respective sub-counties to disseminate the message of party discipline and unified support, aiming to secure a decisive victory for the NRM in the 2026 polls.
