Rtd Col Dr. Kizza Besigye has cleared the air and revealed that he will not be contesting for Presidency in the 2021 elections.
The four times candidate was speaking to a mammoth of his supporters at party Headquarters in Najjanankumbi Kampala today Wednesday August 19th.
He said that he has come to an agreement with the party leadership to stepdown for others potential members but pledged to continue directing Ugandans on the struggle for change.
Besigye’s remarks follow a move by sections of the youth from the party who had organized to storm his Kasangatti home to forcefully bring him to the party headquarters to pick nomination forms after media speculations that he was not contesting for presidency.
The youth who printed posters with messages begging Dr Kizza Besigye to pick expression of interests forms as party flagbearer for 2021 presidential elections first blocked Dr Besigye from speaking wanting him to be nominated but were later calmed down.
Besigye is optimistic that the war to free Uganda which is still ongoing shall soon be overcome.
“The war to free Uganda is still ongoing and pledged to support the “struggle” until Uganda is liberated,” he added: “Let’s keep focused, with God’s help we shall overcome” he added.
ENG Patrick Oboi Amuriat, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President picked nominations firms today for party Presidential flagbearer. He will be contesting with Waswa Birigwa, the party National Chairperson who picked nomination forms for party presidential flag-bearer on Tuesday.
