KAMPALA
On January 26, 2025, Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe and Maama Florence Asiimwe paid a pastoral visit to Dr. Kiiza Besigye at Luzira Upper Prison. The visit was accompanied by Canon Jolly Babirukamu, Canon Frank Tumusiime, and Canon Boaz Mategyero.
During the visit, Bishop Onesimus emphasized the importance of compassion towards those in prison, stating, “The Lord is concerned with the plight of people who suffer all kinds of deprivation, including those in prison.” He also quoted Hebrews 13:3: “Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself.” He encouraged Dr. Besigye to keep strong and always pray for God’s intervation.
The pastoral team posed for a photo with Assistant Commissioner of Prisons Francis Xavier Elubu, the Regional Prisons Commander for the Kampala Extra Region.
Dr. Kizza Besigye who is a Christian from North Kigezi Diocese expressed gratitude and felt greatly encouraged by his Bishop’s visit.
The visit highlighted the Church’s commitment to providing spiritual support and comfort to those facing difficult circumstances, reinforcing the message of empathy and care for all individuals, regardless of their situation.
