Uganda’s opposition leader and the president of the National Unity Platform Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has said that his home is under military attack.
The former presidential candidate says police and the army have deployed at his home Magere ahead of his planned visit to campaign for Ms. Harriet Nakwede, NUP’s flagbearer in the hotly contested Kayunga District Chairperson race.
“This morning ahead of my planned visit to Kayunga District to campaign for our flagbearer, the police and military deployed overnight around my home in an apparent attempt to block me from leaving. The coward regime is on its way out. A matter of time,” Kyagulanyi said.
President Museveni is also expected in Kayunga District to campaign for the NRM flagbearer Andrew Muwonge. Recently, Kayunga RDC Kigozi Ssempala issued warnings of blocking Kyagulanyi from accessing the district to mobilise support for Nakwedde noting that he did not notify them about his coming to the district.
Leaders of the National Unity Platform have expressed concern over the blocking of their president Robert Kyagulanyi from accessing the district to mobilise support for their candidate Harriet Nakweede for the LC5 bi-elections.
The race is hotly between Harriet Nkaweede, NUP and NRM’S Andrew Muwonge, and three others.
The Thursday December 16, polls is to elect a new district chairperson after the death of former chairperson Muhammad Ffeffeka Sserubogo.
