“Boda Boda cyclists will be required to register with Online Boda Boda Services to access Kampala City while Taxis will be required to register as a Transport Company.”
In a bid to decongest Kampala city and modernize transport and communication networks, Kampala Capital City Authority [KCCA] is fixing signages and non-motorized roads in the city for all road users. Peter Kaujju, the authority Spokesperson revealed this while appearing on NBS Television earlier today.
“We are fixing sign ages and non-motorized roads, People will return to a better city,” said Kaujju.
According to Kaujju, KCCA’s top agenda is to address the issue of congestion which is a biggest challenge in Kampala.
He further revealed that registering Boda Bodas under Online Boda Boda services such as Safe Boda, Bolt, Uber is another step the authority looks forward to doing in order to achieve its goal of minimising traffic as well as modernizing transport.
Yesterday, Betty Amongi, the Minister for Kampala said the plans to designate stages for Taxis and Boda Bodas is underways. She further revealed that for any Taxi to access the city soon after this corona virus pandemic, it should be registered with any transport company.
Kaujju said that Taxis refuted speculations that there are secret plans to construct on Old Taxi park plots.
“Now that people are not using the Old Taxi Park, we are working very hard to get funding to work on the sewer line, the lighting, and carpet. We want to regulate taxis and follow them, they will have route maps.”
