The Democratic Party (DP) has called individuals intending to vie for Dokolo district woman MP to pick and fill expression of interest forms at the party headquarters in Kampala.
“As Democratic party we would like to call all members who would wish to contest for the position to Express interest at the party headquarters.In case there’s any member who would wish to run on the DP ticket the door is open,” said Ismail Kiirya, Acting spokesperson for DP.
He said only subscribing DP members endorsed by their branches (DP district offices) are required to pick the forms and contest on the DP ticket.
Dokolo Woman MP seat fell vacant on January 18, following the death of Hon. Cecilia Ogwal Barbrah Imat in a hospital in India.
On Monday 12 February, 2024, the Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama released a roadmap for the by-election.
According to the released roadmap, EC will nominate candidates between 11 and 12 March, 2024, while campaigns are scheduled for 13 -19 March, 2024.
During this by-election programme,the EC will also fill the other vacancies in Dokolo District. They include Sub County Councillor for Adagmon Parish; Woman Councillor for Agoga Parish, Kwera Sub County, Sub-county councillor for male older persons for Kwera S/C and Sub County Councillor, Apenyang Parish.
Polling Day for District Woman Representative to Parliament will according to the roadmap take place on Thursday, 21st March, 2024.
