The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has launched a partial emergency exercise at Entebbe International Airport to test the airport’s preparedness in the event of a passenger aircraft emergency.
The simulation, which began at 11 am on June 14, 2024, mimics an aircraft accident and evaluates the coordination of rescue efforts.
The exercise was designed to assess the airport’s response time, emergency procedures, and coordination between various stakeholders, including rescue teams, airport staff, and security personnel. The simulation will help identify areas for improvement and enhance the airport’s overall emergency response plan.
The public has been advised not to be alarmed by the increased activity and simulated emergency responses around the airport, as it is merely an exercise. The Uganda CAA has assured that the drill will not disrupt normal airport operations.
This exercise demonstrated the airport’s commitment to safety and preparedness, ensuring the well-being of passengers and staff in the unlikely event of an emergency.
