Kyambogo University has entered Guinness  Book of Shame (if at all it exists) after remarks by the University Vice Chancellor Prof Eli Katunguka Rwakishaya that students use facemasks and knickers to aid in examination malpractice.

The Vice chancellor made revelations on Monday while meeting Uganda Muslim Students Association leaders in his office following a saga where a male police officer unveiled a female muslim student before accessing the examination room, a defamatory act against Islamic doctrines globally.

The students who were led by their former Patron Hon. Latif Ssebagala, accepted the Vice Chancellor’s apology on the misconduct of the police officer.

@kyambogou @EliKatunguka @newvisionwire Yesterday the 6th I received a delegation from Uganda Muslim Students Association including their former patron Hon Latif Ssebagala. They delivered acceptance of my apology over an incident involving a Muslim student who was unveiled.

A delegation of UMSA students meeting with KYU Vice Chancellor Prof. Eli Katunguka Rwakishaya on Monday December 7, 2021.

Speaking during the meeting, Prof Eli Katunguka said his office has received several reports of female students hiding papers in their knickers.

He added that when security attempt to check them, they allege they are sanitary pads.

Prof Katunguka says some of the students are taking advantage of the masks to conceal written material.

He now says the University has deployed female security officers to ensure thorough checking of students by security personnel of the same gender.
