The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga faction has refuted reports of holding reconciliation talks with the Najjanankumbi.
Micheal Kabazigurika, the faction’s interim Chief Electoral Commissioner said at a press conference on Wednesday 7 February, 2024 said the speculations is a move by the Najjanankumbi group to fail their organized National Council meeting.
“That is creative thinking on their paths. There are no talks going on between our group and Najjanankumbi. They are secretly meeting our members deceiving them that were in tals. They shouldn’t hoodwink the media and the public,” Kabazigurika explained.
He disclosed that the party will hold their National Council meeting on February 19 to set up agenda for the Delegates Conference scheduled for March 19.
“I would like to encourage all our members especially in districts where districts have not been fully instituted to move full speed ahead to ensure that this exercise is done by February 15, before the National Council meeting,” Kabazigurika urged.
According to him, the party has covered at least 70 percent of the structural elections at the district levels and other districts are still conducting elections.
He added that the party will hold its National Delegates Conference on March 19 to vote new leaders for the party. The delegates conference will be attended among others FDC District chairpersons, National Executive Committee members and members of parliament subscribing to the party.
