The territorial police of Kabale are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of NO:69786 PC Komuhangi Caroline 23 yrs, a police officer, attached to Kabale police station.
Caroline was attached to the FFU department and resident of the barracks behind Kabale old police station, who was allegedly shot by Denis Arinitwe a boyfriend.
It’s alleged that, on the 18/03/2023 at around 1800hrs, the deceased signed for the Gun and went for night duty.
Early morning on the 19/03/2023 at around 0630hrs, she reported back from duty and went to her house to rest. While she was resting, the said Arinaitwe Denis came.
According to the neighbors, the duo picked a quarrel and as she tried to escape outside running, the said Denis picked a gun, thereby shooting her from the back one bullet and other two on the shoulder, killing her instantly.
The suspect has been a tailor at Richo Senior Expert tailors opposite Kabale CPS and he is a resident of Nyakahanga cell, Kazindiro parish, Bugangari Subcounty, in Rukungiri district.
Police restrained him, arrested and was taken to Kabale hospital for treatment under guard, because he was also injured which injury either was through scuffle or wanted to commit suicide by shooting himself through the nose.
Scene was visited and processed by Kabale homicide team led by Kigezi Regional SOCO D/AIP Mugabe Derrick.
Exhibit of catradges and rifle no. UGPOL. UF 20291999 -14771 with suspected blood stains recovered.
The body was later retrieved from the scene and taken to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem as inquiries into the matter continue as confirmed by the PRO Kigezi ASP Elly Maate.
