Masaka Secondary School in Masaka City went up in flames last night
The incident occured at around 2am when a fire swept through one of the girl’s dormitories at the school destroying millions of properties belonging to students.
Parents who responded to this tragic incident were rejected to meet their children. They accuse the school management of withholding information about their children’s health.
It is alleged that the fire was caused by an electric circuit due to power transformer explosion near the school.
Police rescue and fire brigade team arrived at the school and the fire was extinguished to stop it from spreading to other buildings. Residents were disgruntled to learn that one of the fire fighting trucks did not have water which made the exercise to extinguish the fire difficult.
The school Headteacher, Musa Mpungu said no student was affected by the fire and asked parents and the public to stay calm.
“The fire was extinguished while still in the ceiling. And no student was affected by the fire,” he said.
