Rescuers have retrieved five bodies of the twenty people who went missing after a boat accident on lake Victoria.
On 2nd August, 2023, a boat capsized in lake Victoria and twenty people aboard were feared dead while six survived.
SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson says a team of rescuers from the Marine police has so far recovered five bodies of the 20 people that went missing.
He named the victims as all females including Nankya Winnie, 29, Rugose Zam Mutesi Angel, 35, Nabisele Galdyce, 40, Namulondo Proscovia, 44 and Najuna Edith, 30 years.
According to police, rough conditions of the lake and heavy rainfall have slowed down efforts to rescue the victims
Police appeals to families of the victims to remain patient and composed as the rescue team continues to search for their bodies.
