Former Buyende West MP aspirant Sempa Vincent is in police custody after he was arrested for attempted robbery and fraud.
Sempa was arrested together with two other accomplices including his driver Isaac Musoke Robert, Tiya Ndimulodi, an army officer attached to the Fisheries Protection Unit.
The trio and two others who were killed in a mob justice were involved in a fraudulent mercury deal of a German Store in Busikwe village, Gumpi sub county in Buyende district.
The suspects went to the home of Mzeeyi Bamwegobye Mutwaire, a mercury seller with the intention of intoxicating the sellers with chloroform and steal it from them.
“As they were spraying chloroform, one of the sons raised an alarm which attracted residents. Two of the other colleagues were killed by a mob, after the deal went wrong,” reported Police.
Fred Enanga, police spokesperson identified the murdered suspects as Fredrick Ngobi, a resident of Munyegera Ward, Buwenge in Jinja and Nsuguba Ibrahim, a boda boda rider from Kamuli.
He said police responded and arrested five (5) suspects for the double murder of Ngobi Fredrick and Muhammad. They include;Muyige Evulantine, Mwase Siragi, Mwige Swaibu, Mwase Ali and Mwase Karim and appeared in court.
Enanga condemned either acts but, insisted that the police will not keep a blind eye on perpetrators of mob justice and lawlessness.
