AMURIA
The Government is set to commission the Sh3.16 billion Asamuk Seed Secondary School in Asamuk Town Council, Amuria District, in a move aimed at expanding access to quality secondary education in the Teso sub-region.
The school, constructed under the Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers (UGiFT) Programme, is located in Etonu Ward and is among the government’s investments to improve education infrastructure across the country.
The facility comprises three classrooms, a modern information and communication technology (ICT) and library block, a staffroom and a multipurpose block designed to enhance teaching and learning.
On Wednesday, a team from the RDC Secretariat/Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) in the Office of the President, led by Maj. Martha Asiimwe, inspected the project as part of an ongoing nationwide exercise to monitor service delivery, transparency and value for money in government-funded projects.
The inspection focused on assessing the quality of works and the readiness of the school ahead of its commissioning.
Speaking during the visit, Maj. Asiimwe said the government remains committed to investing in education infrastructure to improve learning outcomes across the country.
“Government remains committed to building strong foundations for Uganda’s learners,” she said.
She noted that the monitoring exercise is intended to ensure public projects are completed to the required standards and that Ugandans receive quality services from government investments.
The UGiFT programme supports the construction and upgrading of education infrastructure in local governments to increase access to secondary education, particularly in underserved areas.
Once commissioned, Asamuk Seed Secondary School is expected to ease access to secondary education for learners in Amuria District and neighbouring communities while providing a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
