Police in Kazo District have arrested a 30-year-old man over allegations of defiling a 16-year-old primary six pupil.
The suspect, identified as Jackson Kibuuka, is a resident of Bugarihe II Village in Rwemikoma Sub-county. He is being held at Kazo Central Police Station as detectives investigate the alleged offence.
According to the Bugarihe II LC I chairperson, James Kanyohora, the alleged defilement occurred on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in the same village.
Kanyohora said residents apprehended the suspect the following day and handed him over to police for further management.
The victim’s identity has been withheld because she is a minor, in line with media ethics regarding the reporting of sexual offences involving children.
Police have not yet issued an official statement on the matter, but the suspect remains in custody pending the completion of investigations. If charged and convicted, he could face prosecution under Uganda’s laws on defilement.
