Pilgrims from Buhweju district have today resumed their trek from Lyantonde where they rested yesterday.
A total of 170 pilgrims are from the four parishes of Butare,Bihanga,Kashororo and Kitoko all in Buhweju district. Among the hopeful pilgrims are children between 10 and 12 years, youths and some very old men and women.
Hon. Mwijukye Francis, member of parliament for Buhweju who is leading the pilgrims from Buhweju said that they are doing things in memory of the Uganda Martyrs who died for their country Uganda and to use the chance to offer their prayers to God.
The twelve year old Nkwasibwe William, a pupil at Nyakishojwa primary school who is one of the pilgrims said that he is doing this to pray to God for wisdom and protection and above all to pass PLE and go to a better school.
Hon.Mwijukye called upon all Ugandans to use this period and pray for our country Uganda especially now that gun crimes have become rampant.
Kibitenga Pricila one of the elderly from Butare parish said this is her fourth time trekking to Namugongo, she believes that by doing this God will bless her with more years ahead and protection to her family
Hon. Mwijukye said they started trekking on Monday 21st May and are hopeful to reach Namugongo in not more than 10 days.
