Uganda is in sombre moods after death robbed the country of an ICT icon, James Saka, the former Executive Director National Information Technology Authority -NITA-U, which occurred today December 9.
Labour and Gender mi ister Frank Tumwebaze, confirmed to this development.
“Confirmed this. It’s painful and sad for James. I am sad! My sincere condolences to his family, friends in the ICT sector and NITA Uganda,” Tumwebaze said.
Tumwebaze worked as Saka’s supervisor at the time when he worked as the minister for ICT.
Its reported that Saka died at Mulago hospital where he has been admitted.
However, there are still mixed reactions about the cause of his death with some reports stating that he succumbed to the novel corona virus whereas initial reports say he was earlier diagnosed with same disease but had recovered .
“It is with profound shock and sadness that we announce that James Saaka, our former ED, has passed away.
Saka retired from NITA-U top job in August this year which he had served for 10rs.
NITA-U expressed confluences to their former ED wishing him an eternal rest.
We extend our most heartfelt condolences and sympathy to James’s family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this most difficult time. Rest In Power James,” read the announcement.
