KABALE
Hundreds of traders have today flocked Kabale Central Market in Kabale municipality as officials from Ministry of Local Government and Kabale Municipal Council kick start the distribution of stalls at Kabale central market.
According to Prosy Tuhirirwe, program assistant Community development in the Ministry of Local Government, who was in charge of distributing stalls said they have started with Vegetable dealers and the process has started well. Tuhirirwe said Vendors have been given an ultimatum of 90 days to start making use of stalls once they enter saying whoever shall not adhere to the given guidelines, the stall will be allocated to another trader who is ready and willing to do it.
Speaking to some of the beneficiaries, Keishiki Enid Medius Vegetable dealer, Julius Turinawe, a fresh fruits dealer among others expressed excitement upon assuming stalls, hoping to start operating in a good environment. They said that they hope for the increase in sales of their business to boost their income.
Emmanuel Sentaro Byamugisha, the mayor Kabale Municipality commenting about tightening security as witnessed today said that the market is incorporated with the Police post which has officially started working today to make sure vendors’ property remains safe.
Byamugisha revealed that the market will accommodate 1022 traders and that the exercise will end on Friday this week.
