A tragic flash flood has struck Kasese Municipality, affecting at least four villages in Nyamwamba Division. The disaster has left a trail of destruction, with over 250 households submerged and an estimated 1000 households affected.
According to reports, one woman is feared to have drowned in the floodwaters, and a search operation is underway to locate missing individuals. The Response Action Teams and the District Disaster Management Committee are conducting a rapid assessment to provide a detailed situational report.
The flash floods were triggered by the bursting of River Nyamwamba’s banks following a heavy downpour earlier today. The Village Task Force, comprising community responders, is working closely with the authorities to respond to the emergency.
