Resident District Commissioner (RDC) and former spokesperson of Uganda Muslim supreme Council(UMSC) Hajj Nsereko Mutumba has passed on in the early morning of Wednesday at Rubaga hospital and his death has been confirmed by the presidential press secretary Mr Farouk Kirundi on his Twitter page.
Nsereko was appointed RDC of Kayunga district in March this year following the reshuffles made by the President and held the position till the time of his death.
The Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, Mr. Faruk Kirunda in a Wednesday morning tweet described the late as a respected opinion leader who worked for peace and unity.
“The death of Hajji Nsereko Mutumba, the RDC Kayunga, is a big blow. A respected opinion leader, he worked for peace, unity, and development among Ugandans. His absence will be deeply felt. Inalillahi wainailaihi rajiun,” reads a tweet by Mr Kirunda.
According to the spokesperson of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Hajji Ashraf Muvawala said that they have lost a strong pillar in administration of supreme council.
“ Hajji Nsereko has been my mentor and has taught everything about supreme council, he has served for supreme council for over 15 years and has been advocating for peace and unity among Muslims but it’s sad we have lost him may Allah rest his soul in internal peace.
Innalillahi wa inna illayihi rajioon,” Muvawala said.
Most of the Ugandans and the family members are sudden with his death because he was among the hundreds of RDCs and RCCs who attended the just concluded orientation retreat for Commissioners that happened from 25th to 31st July 2022 at the National Leadership Institute (NALI), Kyankwanzi and was in good condition.
Hajj Nsereko, who is believed to be in his late 60s passed on at Rubaga Hospital although the exact cause of his sudden death is not yet known.
