Kisoro Municipality Mayor, Ndyana Richard, has declared that the installation of street lights in the town will benefit businesses and security, ultimately leading to development and growth.
Kisoro Municipality has recently acquired eight street lights worth 8,375,000 Million Shillings, which have been installed along the Kisoro-Bunagana road. In an exclusive interview, Ndyana said that although the procurement process made with the street lights more costly, the municipality is still determined to expand the coverage of the street lights to the entire town.
The Mayor emphasized that the street lights would enhance the effectiveness of police cameras during night surveillance. Ndyana revealed that an additional eight street lights have been allocated in the budget for the 2023/24 financial year, but the project would be implemented gradually due to budget restrictions.
The Mayor pointed out that over 30 street lights have already been erected, allowing businesses to extend their operating hours, but he advised them against being overly complacent as security cannot be guaranteed.
