At least twk people have been confirmed dead and four others injured after they were struck by lightning in a farm in Kanungu district.
The deceased are; Turyayebwa Edidiya, 42, and Kajowa Diana , 31 while the injured have been identified as Nyinakiiza Flora, 40, a mother of three children who also survived with injuries. These are; Ayebazibwe Susan,16, Friday Akandwanaho, 5, and Kirungi Blessings.
The victims are all residents of Munsyokwe village, Kyamukende Parish, Kinaaba sub county in Kanungu district.
According to eye witnesses, the incident occurred on Tuesday during the afternoon storms while the victims were in a garden doing farm works.
The witnesses identified the casualities as members of same family of one of the deceased persons; Turyayebwa Edidiya while the second deceased (Kajowa Diana) had gone to help them in the farm works.
Police from Kinaaba police station led by the Officer in Charge visited the scene of the incident and removed the bodies of the deceased while the injured have been rushed to nearby health centres for treatment.
