The Uganda Electoral Commission has noted low turn up of women for registration in the women councils elections in some parts of the country in preparation for the conduct of Women’s Councils and Committee Elections, 2022.

The registration exercise which commenced on June 10 is set to close today after it was postponed from the initial closing dates on June 13, to today June 17.

Women and Girls with 18 years and above are registering at tbeir respective cells/villages in order to participate in the elections of Women Councils and Committees.

According to the EC, no registration of female residents in each village across the country will be conducted after today.

The Commission says that the Village Women Residents Register shall be displayed from Thursday 23rd to Friday 24th June 2022 in all the villages across the country to enable voters to check for the correctness of their particulars on the Village Women Residents Register.

The display shall begin at 8:00 am and end at 6:00 pm at the designated public/open place in the respective village.
