The Head of the RDC Secretariat/ACU, Office of the President, Maj. Martha Asiimwe, has raised concerns over the quality of works on the Amuria-Orungo-Abim road after an inspection found poor drainage despite ongoing rehabilitation.
During the monitoring visit, the team found that although fresh murram had been laid along sections of the road, drainage channels had not been constructed, raising concerns about water flow and the durability of the road.
The inspection is part of a nationwide monitoring exercise by the RDC Secretariat/Anti-Corruption Unit, Office of the President to assess service delivery, value for money and compliance with project standards in Teso sub-region.
Maj. Asiimwe said government-funded infrastructure projects must meet the required standards to ensure taxpayers receive value for money.
She stressed that contractors should not compromise on quality and urged implementing agencies to ensure all road works are executed in accordance with approved engineering specifications.
The monitoring exercise targets government infrastructure projects across the country, with particular focus on compliance with contractual obligations, quality of work and effective service delivery.
