Mbarara City was shaken last night as a case of suicide unfolded at the new prestigious Sky Light Hotel. At approximately 7 pm, Nuwahereza Cosmas, a 25-year-old waiter at the hotel, jumped from the third floor,tragically ended his life.
Muyambi Aggrey the hotel manager revealed that Cosmas had requested time off on 05/02/2024 to attend to personal matters in his home district of Rukungiri. Permission was granted on 06/02/2024, considering that Cosmas worked during the night shift. However, he returned to work at 6pm.

Dressed in his work uniform, Cosmas went to the counter and requested a bottle of pure heaven wine, claiming he had clients to serve. Once he obtained the bottle, he proceeded to the third floor where he jumped off, hit himself on a car top in the parking lot and died instantly.
The tragedy’s aftermath saw the body of the deceased being transported to the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
Sp Samson Kasasira revealed that investigators are currently reviewing CCTV camera footage capturing the incident to get the details.
As the investigation continues, authorities are diligently working to piece together the events leading up to this devastating loss. The police are determined to uncover any underlying factors that may have contributed to this distressing incident.
It is indeed an unfortunate day for Mbarara City, as it grapples with the loss of Nuwahereza Cosmas. The community mourns the untimely passing of a young individual and stands together in support of his grieving family and loved ones.
