Police in Kampala are investigating a case in which a wicked man killed his wife and a house maid with a hammer after he was caught redhanded rapping the maid.
The Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire identified the suspect as Shaban Musisi, a resident of Kasenge village in Kyengera town council Wakiso district.
Musisi was reportedly caught red handed raping his 15 year old housemaid Scovia Abed following louder screams that prompted the suspects wife Ruth Nakkazi to show up.
Owoyesigyire says Shaban immediately grabbed a hammer and hit the wife several times to death before turning it onto Scovia (maid) who also succumbed to the injuries.
According to police detectives at Nsangi police station, after the incident, Musisi fled to a nearby bush but was later found by community members in a critical condition after taking what was suspected to be poison in a bid to commit suicide after committing the gruesome murders.
“A bottle containing suspected poison has been recovered in his house and subsequently forwarded to the Government Analytical Laboratory for analysis,” said Owoyesigyire.
Police said the two bodies have been taken to Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary at Mulago for postmortems and the suspect is admitted at Mulago hospital for further treatment.
Police recovered a hammer that Musisi used to batter the victims to death as an exhibit to help in investigation.
