Police in greater Masaka is holding a 66-year-old man accused of killing his wife for denying him sex and alleged cheating.
The suspect is Aloysius Kyeyune, a resident of Kyambogo village, Nyabitanga subcounty in Ssembabule district. He allegedly hacked to death his wife , Nassazi Glades, 40, who he hit on the head using a hoe killing her instantly, on August 8.
Preliminary reports indicate that the duo was in a toxic relationship and have been sleeping in separate rooms.
Police spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga linked the incident to jealousy by the husband over sex denial and cheating suspicions.
“The motive of the killing was established to be jealously, after the suspect accused his wife of denying him, his conjugal rights and cheating on him, with other men in their marital home,” Enanga said
He condemned acts of domestic violence and marital murders which are on rampage in many homes.
“The victim died in a violent manner, after she was hit with a hoe on the head. We cannot tolerate such violent acts in relationships and the wider community,” he condemned.
