Police in Ntungamo district southwest Uganda is investigating a case of arson that claimed the lives of three members of the same family.
The incident happened last night on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at around 11pm in Katunguru village, Katomi ward, Nyamunuka town council Ntungamo district.
Preliminary reports allege that the family head, Tibenderana, 66 (surname yet to identify) developed a misunderstanding with his wife Joventa Kobusingye, 58 after she refused him to sell their remaining piece of land. The highly charged Tibenderana set the house on fire that very night killing Kobusingye and their two grandchildren, Nabilyo Amina, 6 and Nangobi Hassanant 8. The third grandchild, Linet Nanteza sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby clinic for first aid.
Residents revealed that over the weekend on Saturday, the suspect had a failed attempt to hack his wife who ran away unhurt until last night when Tibenderana killed her in a fire attack.
