The rotting body of a man in Rukungiri who went missing on Christmas day has been discovered hanging in what is alleged as suicide.
The deceased is Kennedy Akankwasa, a salon operator and resident of Katungu cell, Kigaga ward, southern division in Rukungiri Municipality.
He according to reports went missing on 25th December 2022 after he left home to Kakonkoma trading center at around 10PM but he never returned home.
The Kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate has told reports that the deceased body was found rotting and hanged in a pit latrine at Kakonkoma Primary School on December 30.
Maate said that police was called to the scene and the body was conveyed to Rwakabengo health centre III for a postmortem.
A case of suicide by hanging has been recorded at CPS Rukungiri under ref CRB 1426/2022 meanwhile, police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
