MPIGI: MP Francis Mwijukye has been involved in a nasty accident at Buwama in Mpigi District along Masaka – Kampala road today evening. Whisper Eye Reports

The Shadow Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon Mwijukye heavy car skidded off the road as he returned from his home district – Buhweju to Kampala.

According to eye witness the accident occured at around 16:15PM at Buwama Trading centre along Kampala-Masaka highway after Hon Mwijukye’s Land Cruiser car with a private registration plate; “MP WAITU” had a headon collission with another vehicle registration number UDX577E Suzuki, leaving two people dead. The driver of a Suzuki vehicle was not identified but sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Gombe hospital for medical treatment.

The deceased have been identified as pedestrians; Nabukenya Florence, female juvenile, aged 13 years and Lubyayi Tadeous, male juvenile aged 9 years, all residents of mbizinya village , Buwama T/council in Mpigi district.

Both MP Mwijukye and his driver, Barekye James, male adult aged 47yrs, survived and are safe.

Asp Natumanya Albert said a case of accident has been registered at Buwama police station and both vehicles have since been towed to Buwama police station pending inspections while the deceased bodies have been taken to Gombe hospital for a postmortem.

Details of the case:

FATAL Accident vide TAR 45/2021 of Buwama police station that occurred on the 22/8/2021 at about 1815/ at Buwama T/c along kla-masaka highway involving m/v reg no.MP WAITU Land cruiser Prado black belonging to one Mwijukye Francis MP Buhweju county driven by Barekye James m/a aged 47yrs r/o kasangati in Wakiso district &m/c reg no.UDX577E Suzuki red in colour ridden by un identified person who was seriously injured and pedestrians one Nabukenya Florence F/J aged 13 years and one Lubyayi Tadeous M/J aged 9 years all residents of mbizinya village , Buwama T/council in Mpigi district who died on spot. The victim was rushed to Gombe hospital for medication & the two bodies of the pedestrians were also taken to Gombe hospital mortuary for postmortem.The vehicle & m/c are parked at Buwama police station pending IOV inspection.Scene visited by Asp Natumanya Albert assisted by cpl Tazuba & the crew. Inquiries continue.
