President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed former lands minister, Betty Olive Namisango Kamya Tirwomwe the new Inspector General of Government (IGG).
The President made the appointment on Thursday evening where he also announced the list of new Permanent Secretaries of government ministries.
Kamya will be deputized by Anne Muhairwe.
Article 174 (2) of the constitution gives the President constitutional powers to appoint any individual of his choice to any public position.
According to the appointment list which was seen by PARROTS UG, the president has retained Dr Keneth Omona as his Principal Private Secretary.
Alex Kakooza who has been serving as the permanent Secretary to the ministry of education sports and technology has been appointed to the Principal Private Secretary to the Vice President.
In the new appointments, the embattled former Secretary to the Treasury Keith Muhakanizi has been transferred to Office of the Prime Minister.
Muhakanizi will be replaced by Makerere University’s celebrated economist Dr. Romathan Ngobi as the new permanent Secretary Ministry of finance.
Among other appointments are; Lucy Nakyobe is the new head of public service and Secretary to Cabinet, Mariam Wangadya is the new chairperson of Uganda Human Rights Commission, Dorcas Okalany will be the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of lands, housing and urban development.
The president has further appointed his son inlaw Odrek Rwabwogo, senior presidential advisor on special duties, Mary Karooro Okurut senior presidential advisor on public relations, and former state minister for children and youth affairs Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi, has been appointed senior presidential advisor on gender and youth affairs.
President Museveni also appointed Adonia Ayebare as special envoy and ambassador to the United Nations while John Mitala has been appointed senior presidential advisor on public service.
