An 18-year-old student of Naalya Secondary School, Bweyogerere Campus, in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, has been found dead in what police suspect to be suicide.
The student’s body was discovered hanging inside a toilet block in the boys’ section of the school on the evening of Tuesday, July 8, 2026.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said detectives at Bweyogerere Police Station have launched investigations into the incident.
“The Police at Bweyogerere are investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspected suicide,” Owoyesigyire said in a statement.
Police said investigators recovered a handwritten note believed to have been written by the deceased. The contents of the note were not disclosed as investigations continue.
According to police, school authorities notified officers immediately after the body was discovered.
A team of detectives visited the scene, documented the evidence, recorded statements from witnesses and later conveyed the body to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Owoyesigyire said the postmortem findings and ongoing investigations will help establish the circumstances that led to the student’s death.
Police urged members of the public to avoid speculation as investigations continue.
