Long after being admitted to different hospitals in and outside the country from the alleged tortures he obtained inside prison, Rubaga North KCCA councillor, James Mubiru says he will be discharged from the hospital soon.
Last year, Mubiru was arrested by security operatives at Kasubi market in Kampala on accusations of wearing the people power Red beret which is a lawful military cloth. He was held incommunicado close to five months.
He was larer on August 21 released by the General Court Martial in Makindye on a Sh10m non cash bail on charges of unlawful possession of army uniform.
Soon after being released, the frail-looking and sick councillor was admitted to hospitals in Uganda like Rubaga hospital, Mulago and Agha Khan hospital in Kenya where he was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, pancreatitis. This according to him was due to the tortures he was subjected to inside prison but authorities at Makindye barracks denied the allegations.
While at Agha Khan hospital in Nairobi, medics recommended that Mubiru acquires further investigations in specialised hospitals in either USA or Germany.
The abroad treatments would require over Sh800m to allow the councillor foot travel and medical bills. He then returned to fundraising through his supporters andwell wishers.
At a certain point, the councillor wrote a letter to the Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Doris Kisaka demanding for his remunerations which had not been paid for the period he spent in illegal detention.
