Police in Kyangwali District is investigating circumstances underwhich a male adult committed suicide by hanging after he allegedly set ablaze his two houses.
The deceased is Omirambe Rendu, estimated in his 4os, a resident of Nyamerimirwa village, Butoole, Kasoga Town Council Kyangwali North county in Kyangwali District. He allegedly set ablaze on his two houses on Tuesday night and later hanged himself in a mango tree in his compound yard.
It is alleged that the deceased was before the incident seen at the bar in Nyamierimiirwa Trading Centre together with other revellers only to find his body hanging lifeless in a mango tree the next morning.
Haruna Mugisha, a resident, described the deceased as a perfect reserved man and the cause of his death leaves many unanswered questions.
“Orambe has been a resident of a good conduct in our area Kasoga, I was shocked to hear early in the morning that he burnt his houses to ashes and committed suicide,” Mugisha said.
According to reports, the deceased is among other beneficiaries of Oil Pipeline under CNOOC oil and gas program.
Residents said the deceased got misunderstandings together with his wife (identity not disclosed) who left the home to do some fishing activities at a neighbouring landing site where she has been engaging in sexual immoralities.
An anonymous resident told our reporter that the deceased had further misunderstaindings over the compensation money from the oil and gas program. The source said that the wife forcefully went away with the money from the husband prompting his to commit suicide out of tempers. No other death had been recorded from the burned houses by press time.
By the time of compiling this story, local authorities were still making a statement at police awaiting to visit the crime scene.
