A total of 1,733,000 international passengers used Entebbe International Airport during the period of January and November, 2023, Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have reported.

Vianney Mpungu Luggya, the authority public relations and corporate affairs officer said they recorded an increase of 315,000 passengers as compared to the number of passengers recorded in the same period last year.

In August, CAA reported that a total of 1,219,189 international passengers were handled during the period between January to August 2023 compared to 1,012,862 international passengers in the same period of January to August 2022 and 1,166,796 international passengers in January to August 2019, before the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Luggya noted that they expect more numbers during the festive period likely to cause congestions on the roads leading to the Airport. He urged Airport facility users particularly the departing passengers to come to the airport at least three (3) hours prior to their scheduled flights to avoid inconveniences.

“I appeal to departed passengers to find time and come to the Airport about three hours before their scheduled time,” Luggya urged.
