The motion to approve Hon. Alupo was moved by Ruhinda North MP, Thomas Tayebwa and seconded by all the members present with exception of only one legislator who voted against the motion.
Alupo was declared Vice President by Deputy Speaker Anita Annette Among. She replaces Hon. Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi who has been at the helm of Uganda’s second highest position for the last one decade.
Speaking shortly after the verification exercise, Alupo thanked President Museveni for entrusting her with the opportunity to serve in the position adding that she will not spare any energy in serving the country.
Alupo becomes the second ever female Vice president of Uganda after the historical Vice President Specioza Wandera Kazibwe who served under Obote I government.

The motion to approve Hon. Robinah Nabbanja was moved by the Kinkizi West area MP. Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi and was supported by many legislators amid cheers. Only three legislators voted against the motion.
Nabbanja becomes the first female prime minister in the history of Uganda.
