A body of a police officer in Masindi district – Bunyoro region was on Thursday found hanging on a tree in an alleged suicide

The incident happened at Golf Grounds, Central Division Masindi Municipality on Thursday morning

The Albertine Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Julius Allan Hakiza has identified the deceased as Constable Mugenyi Kandole, a resident of Kisindizi village in Pakanyi Sub County.

He allegedly committed suicide under yet still unclear reasons.

James Tumusiime, an eye witness who discovered the deceased body said he saw the body dangling on a tree and alerted other members and police.

Hakiza confirmed to the death reports stating that the deceased has been a police officer attached to Masindi Police Station

Police preliminary investigation indicates that the deceased had a mental problem which could have resulted into this suicidal act.

“The deceased had a mental problem, but we are still investigating what caused his death,” Hakiza said
