A Uganda Prisons Service wardress who had travelled to visit her boyfriend in Mbarara was shot dead on yet to identify reasons

Wardress Adong Magodalena (No.19109), 24, attached to Prison Academy and Training School Luzira had come to pay a visit to her boyfriend also a warder at UPS in Mbarara where she met her death.

According to ASP Samson Kasasira, Rwizi region police spokesperson, the incident happened on Monday (June 13) at around 1955hrs at Kakika prison in Mbarara City.

Wardress Adong Magodalane was shot dead by her boyfriend warder Chemutai Aloysius on duty at Kakika prison

Kasasira has identified the boyfriend as No.19015 Prison Warder Chemutai Aloysious, in his 27s, attached to Kakiika Government Prison in Mbarara.

He allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend Adong who had come to visit him and later turned the gun on himself and died.

Police preliminary investigations indicate that the two officers have been in a relationship and that on the June 11th, 2022, Adong travelled from Kampala to Mbarara to pay a visit to Chemutai at Kakiika prison little did she know that the visitation was to end her life.

Police says that by the time of the incident, the Adong was together with Chemutai while on duty.

Chemutai Aloysius, prison warder at Kakika prison Mbarara who shot dead his girlfried, wardress Adong Magodalene, prisons student at Luzira and he later shot himself dead.

Kasasira says that police visited the scene and made a recovery of some exhibits used in the murder.

“Police visited the scene recovering the killer weapon SMG Rifle No.UG PRI 49001094-01247 with 24 rounds of ammunition and three cartidages of the discharged bullets”, he said.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Mbarara Regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.

By press time, police had not established the actual cause of the killing but inquiries into matter are ongoing.
