A team of forensic scientists from the Uganda police and the updf have on Tuesday (June 27) handed over to the parents and relatives 11 remains of the victims of Lhubiriha Secondary School attack who were brutally burnt and killed by the alleged ADF rebels on June 16.
The hand over was at Bwera General Hospital Mortuary, in Kasese district. They were handed over by the state minister for ICT and national guidance Godfrey Kabyanga,.
On Monday, the police through its spokesperson SCP Fred Enanga said that of the 17 DNA samples tested, 6 did not match the DNA samples and we’re still pending additional DNA sample testing.
While handing over the 11 samples, minister Kabyanga retaliated police calls to parents whose children’s remains are still missing to provide police forensic teams with more samples for DNA profiling.
Death toll for the victims of June 16, 2023 Kasese attacks have according to police risen to 44, while reports of the abducted students identify three children not six as it has been reported in the media previously.
