Police in Sheema district have arrested two men in connection with the tragic death of a three-month-old baby following a domestic dispute.
The suspects are Naboth Ahimbisibwe, 51, and Reagan Ntoreine, 19, both residents of Kamurinda Cell, Runyinya Parish, Kigarama Subcounty in Sheema district.
Police preliminary reports indicate that on the night of January 31, 2025, at around 9:00 PM, Ntoreine and his wife, Mariam Namaganda had a heated argument and an altercation quickly turned violent, forcing Mariam to flee to a neighbor’s house for safety, leaving behind their infant in bed.
Tragically, when she returned the following morning, she found the baby dead.
Police have arrested two suspects to help them in investigations, meanwhile ,the body was taken to Kabwohe Health Centre IV Mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Police have condemned the incident, urging community members to seek peaceful means of resolving domestic conflicts.
“It is deeply troubling that an innocent life has been lost in such circumstances. We urge families to seek support and intervention in cases of domestic violence,” a police spokesperson stated.
The suspects remain in custody as further investigations unfold. Police have also called on residents with any additional information about the incident to come forward.
