KYANKWANZI
Police in Kyankwanzi District have arrested two suspects and are actively searching for a third in connection with the theft of coffee beans.
The suspects, identified as Najerere Joseph and Kawaga Richard, are accused of stealing 30 bags of coffee belonging to Kyambeze Johnson, a resident of Masode Town Council.
They were arrested after Kyambeze reported the theft to the Kyankwanzi Police Station on October 31. This prompted police to deploy a canine dog “Kipis,” which successfully led police to a house where the trio were hiding.
Police say two suspects Najerere and Kawaga were apprehended hiding under the bed, whereas the third one, Kawologoma escaped from the scene.
Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to stealing the coffee, which was reportedly stored in the house for sale. Three bags of coffee beans which were later identified by Kyambeze were recovered by police as exhibits.
The two suspects are currently detained at Kyankwanzi Police Station, and a manhunt is underway to locate the third suspect, who remains at large.
