UNEB Commends Smooth Conduct of 2025 PLE Despite Heavy Rains and Isolated Malpractices

A total of 166,402 candidates from 2,844 examination centres across the country have today started writing the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.

According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), this year’s figure represents a 14.6% increase from last year’s 141,996 candidates.

Of the total number, 77,772 (44%) are females, while 93,630 (56%) are males. UNEB further revealed that 42,328 candidates (25%) are sponsored under the Uganda Post O-Level Education and Training (UPOLET) programme, while 124,074 (75%) are privately sponsored.

The examinations commenced with the briefing of candidates on Friday, while actual writing begins today, Monday, November 10, 2025.

In the morning session, candidates will sit for P210/5 Theory of Government and Constitutional Development, P210/6 History of Africa (1855–1914), and P510/1 Physics Paper One. In the afternoon, they are expected to write P310/1 Literature in English: Prose and Poetry, P320/1 Fasihi ya Kiswahili: Nathari na Ushairi, and P510/2 Physics Paper Two.

Additionally, UNEB warned heads of centres, teachers, and the public against engaging in any form of examination malpractice, including the circulation of fake papers by individuals posing as UNEB officials.

UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo said such acts undermine the credibility of national examinations and attract severe legal consequences.

“All persons contemplating involvement in any form of examination malpractice will be dealt with in accordance with the UNEB Act, Cap 259,” Odongo warned.
